Anna Sikorska - Votive Candle Stand
Anna is a student at the Slade School of art. She has just finished her final year with an exhibition at the school.
In the photo below we see Anna putting the final touches to one of her pieces.
She agreed to create a Votive Candle Stand for us, to be placed in the Lady Chapel.
Anna involved the children's church in its production. The candles are held in little clay pots which were made by the children during Children’s Church on the 15th June 2008.
Anna glazed and fired the pots and the final result can be seen in the photos below.

Anna said ‘I am delighted to be working with the church on this exciting project, particularly as it will involve many of the children in the local area. It is very encouraging to see the church looking to young artists for new ideas and I hope that the candle stand may be a small aid in focusing people’s prayers’.
The votive candle stand is now in the Lady Chapel and was blessed after Sunday Mass on 21st September 2008.
