Children’s Church at St Andrew’s is flourishing!
We often have more than 20 children and their artwork looks very impressive displayed on the walls of the Children’s Chapel.
This is what we do, (in a nutshell)…..
We meet every Sunday in the year at the main 10.00a.m. Mass. After the Collect (about ten minutes in), we process upstairs to continue our worship. This is based around the Gospel (the same text as downstairs), which we read together or act out. We then create something, usually involving colouring, painting, sticking and cutting, which helps us think about the Gospel story.
Occasionally our activities are divided into age-appropriate tasks but we normally work towards a large poster, or similar, to display downstairs with contributions from everyone, regardless of their age or ability. This sense of working together is a real feature of St Andrew’s Children’s Church, with older children helping younger children to complete their contribution.
Our worship continues with songs and prayers to help us calm down and focus on coming downstairs for the children to receive a blessing at the Altar.
We always have a special area for babies upstairs with rugs, cushions and baby toys and parents/carers are very welcome to stay with their children.
New and visiting children are always welcome to join in the fun – come and see what we do!
