St Matthias the Apostle
There is no mention of Matthias in the Synoptic Gospels but he was one of the seventy disciples of Jesus.
Matthias was present at the Ascention and soon after was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot as one of the twelve Apostles(Acts 1:26).
Lots were drawn to choose between Matthias and Joseph. It's possible that the election by lots rather than by a democratic method
meant the Matthias was chosen by God not mortals.
All further information concerning the life and death of Matthias is vague and contradictory.
