St Thomas the Apostle
Thomas was one of the twelve disciples (Matthew 10:3) and is also known as Didymus (Greek for twin). Personal references are in the Gospel of John.
When Lazarus has just died, the disciples are resisting Jesus' decision to return to Judea, where the Jews had previously
tried to stone Jesus. Jesus is determined, but Thomas has the last word: "Let us also go, that we might die with him" (John 11:16).
He speaks at The Last Supper, "How can we know the way" to which Jesus repiles, "I am the way" (John 14:5)
He doubts the resurection of Jesus and wants proof. In John 20:24-end, Thomas wants to see the marks left by the nails. When Jesus visits Thomas and says "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe".
