Children and youth

Children and young people are central to our way of thinking about the gospel. Jesus was clear –“let the children come to me and do not prevent them”. We have dedicated one whole side of the church for parents and children to be present during worship and to absorb what it is to see those around them engaged in worship. We also continue to support and empower young people in many ways.

Children’s church

Sundays 10am family communion (is back, see below!)

Children and young people are an essential part of our Church community and are welcome at any service.

On the 1st Sunday each month we have an All Age service in which the children and young people take an active part.

On the 3rd Sunday each month the children are invited to participate in Children's Church (during the morning service), with singing, fun activities and exploring the day's Bible theme. Children's Church is primarily for those aged 2-10, and strict COVID-19 prevention measures will be in place. You can read our risk assessment here

Location: St Andrew's Church, Greyhound Rd, W14 9SA

Church Youth Group

Currently on the 4th Sunday during the morning service

Whilst Confirmation Classes take place

Young people are an important part of our Church family and we are always looking for new ways to empower and encourage them. We run a youth group for school year 6 up to 16 years. We dive deep into the big questions of faith and life, whilst having fun and sharing snacks. From time to time, we gather outside of our normal time for fun trips and events, we also join our area of Churches on the annual youth weekend away. Please note, at present, we are operating under COVID-19 prevention measures - but, that doesn't mean the fun stops! You can read our risk assessment here

Songs & Stories

Wednesdays 10–11.30am (currently suspended)

Songs and Stories is a fun and exciting place to be! Parents and children are led through a series of action songs, have a break to share fruit, before story time and bubbles. The cost per family is £2, but this may be waived in cases of need. New people are welcomed nearly every week. Some choose to stay for lunch in the café, which serves child sized portions of the meal of the day. The sessions are attended largely by people with no other connection to St Andrew’s church.

Location: St Andrew’s Church, Greyhound Rd, W14 9SA

W14 Youth Club

Fridays 5.00–6.30pm (8-10yrs) | 6.30-8.15 (11-16yrs) (is back!)

Our Youth Club for ages 8-16 is brilliant for those who enjoy sport, in particular football – we have a professional coach to teach and facilitate matches on the astro-turf. Not into sport? That's OK too! We also offer activities, games, craft and a place to chill. We also run trips!

Youth Ministry in Communion (YMIC)

Launched September 2021

St Andrew's is proud to be leading on a brand new initiative that promotes collaboration across parishes in the catholic and eucharistic traditions of the Church of England to develop local youth ministry in Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea. YMIC provides bi-monthly youth events for parishes, a peer-support network for those involved in youth work and resources (including training). We ran a pre-launch event in July 2021, which you can find out more about here.

Equalitree (a project by our young people)

Funded by The Spark Fund (Capital Youth)

We are proud as a church to be so active in our children's and youth work, and more importantly to be empowering young people to be leaders within our community. Equalitree is a short-term project from the young people of St Andrew's to help combat climate change and raise awareness of inequality. In early 2021, they awarded just over £2,000 to put their idea into motion. In brief, the project seeks to draw young people from our wider community together to plant trees, create a memorial garden and raise awareness of injustice and inequality throughout the world - all with the end goal of helping other young people to recognise the love of God.
